General Scaffolding Questions
How much does scaffolding hire cost?
Scaffolding costs depend on the size, height, complexity, access requirements, and duration of hire. A simple domestic scaffold for a two-storey house typically starts from a few hundred pounds per week, while larger commercial or industrial projects are quoted individually. We provide free, no-obligation site surveys and quotes — call us on 07583 030 338 for a competitive price.
How quickly can you erect scaffolding?
For most domestic projects, we can have scaffolding erected within 2-3 working days of your enquiry. Larger commercial and industrial projects are scheduled to suit your programme. For urgent requirements, call us directly — we can often accommodate tight timescales, especially for projects in the Neath, Swansea, and Cardiff areas close to our depot.
Do I need a licence or permit for scaffolding on a public pavement?
Yes. If your scaffolding extends onto a public footpath or road, you will need a scaffold licence from your local council. We can advise on the requirements and help you apply. The process typically takes 1-2 weeks, which is worth factoring into your project timeline.
Is scaffolding safe?
When erected by qualified professionals and regularly inspected, scaffolding is extremely safe. All our scaffolders hold CISRS (Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme) cards, and every scaffold is designed to comply with TG:20 technical guidance. We provide regular inspections throughout the hire period and full documentation for your site records.
What areas do you cover?
We cover the whole of South Wales from our depot in Neath, including Cardiff, Swansea, Neath, Port Talbot, Bridgend, Newport, Llanelli, the Welsh Valleys, and beyond. We have completed projects as far as Haverfordwest, Hereford, Gloucester, and Bristol. Visit our Areas page for more details.
How long can I hire scaffolding for?
There is no minimum or maximum hire period — we are flexible to suit your project. Typical domestic hires are 2-8 weeks, while commercial projects can run for several months. We will agree the hire period upfront and can extend it if your project takes longer than expected.
Services & Capabilities
What is T-Deck safety decking?
T-Deck is the UK premier safety decking and access deck system. It creates a solid working platform that prevents falls, with a load capacity of 2.0 kN/m² and compliance with BS EN 12811-1. T-Deck installs up to 75% faster than traditional birdcage scaffolding and provides a clear, unobstructed platform. Trust Scaffolding is the first FASET-accredited T-Deck installer in Wales.
What is the difference between T-Deck and birdcage scaffolding?
Birdcage scaffolding fills the working area with a forest of tubes and fittings, which restricts movement and slows down work. T-Deck creates a clean, solid platform with no obstructions — operatives can walk freely, store materials, and work more productively. T-Deck also installs up to 75% faster, reducing programme time and labour costs.
Do you provide edge protection and safety netting?
Yes. We provide temporary guardrail systems, safety netting, brick guards, debris netting, and free-standing edge protection. These systems comply with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and HSE requirements. Edge protection can be hired standalone or combined with our scaffolding and T-Deck services.
Can you provide scaffolding for new build housing developments?
Yes. We work with volume house builders, individual self-builders, local authorities, and housing associations. Services include phased scaffolding programmes for multi-plot developments, T-Deck crash decks for roofing phases, and full tender support. We have delivered on projects ranging from single builds to developments of 1,500 homes.
Do you offer temporary roofing?
Yes. We provide temporary roofing solutions including scaffold-based temporary roof structures and shrink wrap applications (via our partner Final Seal). Temporary roofs protect buildings and workers from weather during roof repairs, asbestos removal, or heritage restoration projects.
Can you work at night or out of hours?
Yes. We have extensive experience of night-shift and restricted-hours scaffolding operations. Our Boots Park Trostre project in Llanelli was completed entirely at night, and we regularly work around school hours, hospital shift patterns, and retail trading hours. We can accommodate whatever schedule your project requires.
Accreditations & Qualifications
What does FASET accreditation mean?
FASET is the UK trade association for height safety and fall prevention. Our FASET accreditation — the first in Wales for platform decking — means our T-Deck installers have completed manufacturer-approved training, we follow audited safe-working procedures, and our installations meet the highest industry standards. It provides an independent assurance of competence and quality.
What is SMAS accreditation?
SMAS (Safety Management Advisory Services) is a health and safety assessment scheme for contractors. Trust Scaffolding has held SMAS accreditation for 7+ consecutive years, demonstrating a sustained commitment to health and safety management that is independently verified annually.
How many scaffolders do you employ?
We have a team of 22+ scaffolders, all holding CISRS cards (Part 1, Part 2, or Advanced). This gives us the capacity to handle multiple large projects simultaneously while maintaining our standards on every scaffold. We also invest heavily in training, with regular apprentice cohorts at the CWIC Scaffolding Academy in Swansea.
How long has Trust Scaffolding been in business?
Trust Scaffolding was incorporated on 10 May 2016 and has been trading for nearly a decade. The company was founded by Greg Roberts and Roy Jones, growing from what they describe as "an idea in a bar" into one of South Wales's leading scaffolding companies with 22+ employees, a 10,000 sq ft depot, and a fleet of 4+ HGVs.
Are your scaffolders qualified?
Yes. Every scaffolder on our team holds a CISRS (Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme) card — the recognised industry standard for scaffolding competence in the UK. Our scaffolders hold Part 1, Part 2, or Advanced cards depending on their experience level. All employees also hold Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work qualifications.
Do you have insurance and public liability cover?
Yes. We carry full public liability insurance, employers liability insurance, and professional indemnity cover. Copies of our insurance certificates are available on request and can be provided as part of our pre-qualification documentation for commercial and industrial clients.
